Our Beliefs

Learn about what we believe as a church and as a denomination.

First Things First

Nampa First Church of the Nazarene is a part of the Church of the Nazarene Denomination and ascribe to their beliefs. We reflect that in our shared theology and traditions. We are also a local church, meaning we want to remember the community we are a part of. We reflect that in our core values.

Our Core Values

Belonging

We are a community of belonging, where all who come are welcomed to the table. (Matthew 11:19; Matthew 11:30).

Training

We are a community of training, where we work to nurture a heart for God, a passion for people, and a healthy sense of self (The Great Commission, Matthew 22:37-39).

Serving

We are a community of serving, where we work to be the hands and feet of Jesus so that all might experience the Living Hope found in Him. (The Great Commission, Matthew 28:18-20).

Our Theology

We are proud of our over 100-year affiliation with and support of the Church of the Nazarene. We are a holiness denomination that traces our heritage to John Wesley and the Methodist movement. Here’s a snapshot of where we stand…

We believe in one God, who exemplifies himself in three ways: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe the Old and New Testament Scriptures are divinely inspired and contain all truth necessary to faith and Christian living.

We believe all people have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God.

We believe the grace and redemption offered through Jesus Christ is for the whole human race and whoever repents and believes in the Lord Jesus Christ is justified, given new life, and is saved from the bondage of sin.

We believe that believers are to be sanctified wholly, subsequent to regeneration, through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

We believe the Holy Spirit bears witness to the new birth and to the entire sanctification of believers.

We believe that our Lord will return, the dead will be raised, and the final judgment will take place.
