What is Faith Promise? Faith promise is giving by trusting in God and his promises. A faith promise is exactly what it states – a promise made in faith between an individual and God. It is money given above and beyond our tithe and can be given weekly, monthly or at one time. These gifts are a part of our church’s World Evangelism Fund which helps us share Christ’s love with world and to fulfill our call to make Christlike disciples in the nations. Nampa First has two very special partnerships with Nazarene work in SE Asia and in West Cuba. Some of your giving will go towards helping with the work being done in those two areas. These funds will also be used to help support our missionaries and for the work of Jesus Film Harvest Partners, World Mission Broadcast, clergy development, Work and Witness, Nazarene Missions International and Global Missions!
Our church will be celebrating a time of Faith Promise on January 27th and 28th. Our special missionary speakers will be Verne and Natalie Ward. God called them to be missionaries 40 years ago when they were a young couple attending Nampa First Church. They first served in Papua New Guinea then the Philippines, Singapore and now at the Global Missions Center in Lenexa, KS where Verne is the director of Global Missions.
Verne and Natalie began their career near Nazarene Hospital in Papua New Guinea. This is a 130-bed hospital deep in the mountains in the center of the country. Global Missions provides missionaries who work with our national Nazarenes there. Those missionaries are doctors, finance people, teachers, and maintenance workers. The hospital serves a population of 250,000 people.
Over 350 babies are delivered each month in the maternity ward at Nazarene Hospital. Many mothers do not have anything for their new babies because of their poverty. Loving Nazarenes around the world have donated baby supplies to be given in the name of Jesus to these mothers. All a baby needs to start life is given in a 2-gallon zip lock bag. Nampa First will begin collecting items for these Warm Baby Kits on December 31st. Booths will be set up at the back of the sanctuary where you can pick up lists of what is needed. You can bring the items you donated back there.
On Saturday, January 27th, we will meet for an amazing breakfast at 9 AM in the gym and hear Verne and Natalie speak. At 10:30 we will all begin to put these kits together. This is a great activity for kids and parents to do together!
We are also asking our children if they will color coloring pages to include with the Warm Baby kits. These pages have bible verses written in the local language which will be incredibly special to the mothers they are given to.
Sunday morning will be a special time to hear Verne and Natalie speak. At the end of the service, we will turn in our Faith Promise cards giving as God has asked us. We will hear one more time from the Wards on Sunday night at 6 pm in the gym.
We hope you can be a part of our faith promise activities! – Your Nazarene Missions International (NMI) Council
